Editor’s Note:
As only the second woman to take over as Editor-in-Chief of the New Orleans Review, I am proud to announce that my first issue, in a happy coincidence, contains the fiction, poetry and essays of all female contributors. This was not an intentional choice by our editorial board, but it’s still a noteworthy occurrence. The first issue of NOR in 1968, and many that followed, contained the work of only male writers–which was not at all noteworthy. We are so proud to publish the work of the brilliant women in Issue 44. —Lindsay Sproul, Editor
